Original Engraving
a printing on a paper brought out by a metal or woody slab, called "matrice", where an artist engraved a picture either with a point or with a blade or with the help of an acid;
a printing with the names of acquaforte (etching), acquatinta (acquatint), puntasecca (dry point), vernice molle (soft ground engraving), bulino (burin), maniera nera (mezzotint), punzone (stipple engraving), xilografia (woodcut), linoleum (linocut) according to the traditional techniques used engraving;
a black and white printing for ancient tradition and above all for the specificity of an autonomous artistic language that becomes popular and refined in a fundamental distance from colour;
a hand-printing made one by one, signed and numbered in un a limited edition, with the final staking out (slashing) of the slab for guarantee;
All above is called Original Engraving and it is what Chalcos promotes and guarantees.
